Glass rods that catch the light
The Chime wall sconce brings together a cluster of textured glass rods, each one rippled along its length so it breaks up and scatters light rather than showing a plain smooth surface. The rods sit in two tiers, gathered top and bottom, and held at the centre by a wide band in Silver Leaf. It is a small fixture by measurement, but the layered glass gives it real depth and shimmer once it is lit.
Silver Leaf finish
The centre band is finished in Silver Leaf with polished stainless accents, a soft, brushed silver tone with a warmer cast than a hard chrome. In photos it reads as understated rather than shiny, letting the textured glass do the visual work. It sits comfortably alongside warm metals, black iron or cooler nickel finishes used elsewhere in the room.
How it works
Two E14 candelabra bulbs, 60 watts maximum each, sit behind the glass rods so light glows up and down through the texture rather than shining straight out. The fixture stands 14 inches high and 7.75 inches wide, and projects 4.5 inches from the wall on a 4.25 by 10 inch backplate, so it sits close and tidy against a wall or pillar.
Where it works best
Its wall mounted, close projecting shape suits hallways, staircases, either side of a mirror or bed, or flanking a fireplace, anywhere you want gentle ambient light with some sparkle rather than a full wash of brightness. Being compact, it also reads well fitted in pairs.
About Corbett
Corbett Lighting has spent more than 40 years building bold, sculptural fixtures, the kind of statement pieces the brand itself describes as sophisticated and chic, with a jewellery like quality to the detailing. Corbett is one of three lighting brands under Hudson Valley Lighting Group, alongside Mitzi and Troy Lighting. The group's roots go back to Brooklyn inventor William Littman in 1939, who took inspiration from the fluorescent lighting unveiled that year at the New York World's Fair. His grandson, David Littman, later founded Hudson Valley Lighting Group in the 1980s, carrying that original idea forward into the family business it is today.
