A Slim, Low Glare Line of Light for Commercial Ceilings
The Versa Tile is a 1500mm architectural linear light built for spaces where harsh light and screen glare are a real problem. At just 38mm deep, the housing sits close and flat to the ceiling, and Collingwood has set its optics to a UGR19 rating, low enough for comfortable close range work at a desk or a meeting table. It runs on a 45W integral driver and produces 5500 lumens at 4000K, a clean, neutral white that suits most office, retail and public building interiors.
The White Finish
This version has an aluminium housing finished in white, so it reads as part of the ceiling rather than a visible fitting once it's up. It suits white suspended ceiling tiles or painted plasterboard particularly well. The diffuser is polystyrene, and it runs the full 1558mm length of the fitting, spreading the light evenly along its line rather than showing individual LED points, so you get one continuous glow rather than a row of separate dots.
How It Works
The driver is built into the housing, so there's nothing extra to fit in the ceiling void. Output splits 75% down into the room and 25% up towards the ceiling, which softens the light and helps a run of these fittings read as one continuous line. Surface mounting adds further uplight again, over 10% of total output bounced back off the ceiling. A single 1500mm length can be recessed, mounted flush to a wall or ceiling, or suspended, and where a longer run is needed, units join end to end using the separate VTWCON connector kit sold alongside the fitting.
This particular listing covers eight build combinations. Choose non dimming or dimming (DALI 2 or push dim) drivers, then pick standard operation, emergency operation with a self test function and IK02 impact rating, a built in PIR presence sensor, or emergency operation combined with a PIR sensor.
Where It Works Best
Its low glare optics make the Versa Tile a good fit for open plan offices, meeting rooms and reception desks, anywhere people are sat working at a screen for long stretches. Corridors, stairwells and back of house areas suit the PIR equipped versions well, since the sensor can switch the light off automatically when nobody is passing through. The emergency variants make sense wherever building regulations call for maintained escape route lighting, such as corridors and stair cores in commercial and public buildings.
About Collingwood Lighting
Collingwood Lighting designs and builds its LED fittings at its own site in Sywell, Northamptonshire, and has worked solely with LED technology since 2002. The brand states it was among the first to bring fire rated, permanently sealed and mains dimmable LED products into the UK electrical wholesale market. Collingwood also holds an EcoVadis Gold medal, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed worldwide for sustainability.
Good to Know
- Comes with a 5 year warranty from Collingwood Lighting.
- Rated IP20, so it's built for dry indoor spaces only, not bathrooms or anywhere exposed to moisture.
- Wired to Class I electrical safety, meaning the metal housing must be properly earthed as part of installation.
- Dimming only works on units ordered with a DALI 2 or push dim driver. Standard drivers run at fixed output with no dimming.
- To join units into a longer run, order the separate VTWCON connector kit alongside the fitting.
- Wipe the diffuser with a dry or lightly damp cloth. Avoid solvents, which can mark the polystyrene surface.
- Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Questions People Ask
What does the Versa Tile's UGR19 rating actually mean?
A UGR19 rating means Collingwood has controlled glare from the Versa Tile to a level considered comfortable for people working at screens for extended periods, which is lower, and therefore more comfortable, than the UGR22 or higher rating typical of standard office lighting.
Can more than one Versa Tile 1500mm be joined together to make a longer run?
Yes, individual 1500mm Versa Tile units connect end to end using the separate VTWCON connector kit, which is sold apart from the light itself, allowing a continuous line rather than a row of separate fittings.
Is the white Versa Tile 1500mm suitable for a bathroom?
No, this fitting is rated IP20 for dry indoor use only, so it is not suitable for bathrooms or any other space where it could be exposed to moisture.
Does this listing include an emergency lighting option?
Yes, emergency operation is one of the eight build options available on this listing, giving 260 lumens of emergency output with a self test function and an IK02 impact rating, though it is not fitted on the standard, non emergency configurations.
What's the difference between the dimming and non dimming versions?
The dimming versions are fitted with a DALI 2 or push dim driver so output can be controlled by a compatible dimming system, while the non dimming versions run at a fixed light output with no dimming control.
