The TR2818 is a Wi-Fi to RF transmitter, not a light in itself, but the piece of kit that lets you run an existing Collingwood colour change installation from a phone or tablet instead of a handheld remote. It takes the signal from your home Wi-Fi and converts it into the RF signal that Collingwood's colour change receivers and controllers already understand, so app control can be added to a system that was originally set up to work with a remote.

A Compact Metal Unit Built to Disappear

This is a single product with no finish options, and it is built for function rather than display. The case is metal, small enough to sit inside a cabinet or behind a panel, and carries two external aerials, one for the Wi-Fi side of the connection and one for the RF side. A keyhole shaped bracket underneath lets it be screwed flat to a wall or the inside of an enclosure, and a small screw terminal block on the base takes the incoming power feed. Nothing about it is meant to be seen once it is installed, which is exactly the point.

How It Works

Power comes into the unit from a 24V DC source, such as a Collingwood driver already feeding the colour change circuit. Once wired in, the TR2818 pairs with Collingwood's free EASYLIGHTING app for iPhone, iPad and Android, either by connecting your device straight to the transmitter's own signal or by joining it to your home Wi-Fi network so it can be reached from anywhere on that network. From there the app opens up millions of colours, lets you save favourite shades, split the installation into up to eight separately controlled zones, and switch on a sound to light mode that shifts colour in time with music. The box includes the transmitter itself with its two aerials and mounting bracket. It does not include a driver or RF receiver, both of which need to already be part of the installation, such as a Collingwood C100924 controller.

Where It Works Best

The TR2818 is fitted inside the control cabinet or enclosure of a colour change lighting system, wired into the same 24V DC supply as the driver rather than mounted out in the open. It suits gardens, decking, facades and feature walls that already run on Collingwood RF colour change equipment and simply need app control added on top, whether that is a new installation being specified with app control from the start or an existing remote controlled system being upgraded without rewiring the lights themselves.
