A neat way to wall mount the MF02 IP and MS02 IP
Collingwood's mini lights are small enough to more or less vanish into a wall once they are lit, but they still need something solid to sit on. The WB/M 02 is the rectangular option in that little family of brackets. It is a flat stainless plate with two apertures, so a pair of MF02 IP or MS02 IP fittings mounts from one bracket instead of two separate points on the wall. Low profile, quietly made, and built to stay outside.
Grade 316 stainless steel with a brushed face
Collingwood makes this one in 316 stainless, the marine grade, and finishes it brushed rather than polished. In the flesh that reads as a soft directional grain running across the front, so the plate catches light gently and never flares. The Collingwood name and logo are embossed down the folded side edge, which is the only decoration on it. Since the MF02 IP and MS02 IP fittings are themselves 316 stainless with the same brushed face, bracket and fitting settle into one another visually once they are up. It sits comfortably against render, brick, stone and timber cladding.
How It Works
There is nothing electrical about this part. No driver, no terminals, no rating of its own. Its whole job is to give a fitting a rigid flat base on a vertical surface and hold it there. The plate carries two apertures, one fitting in each, and Collingwood supplies the wall fixings in the box, so nothing else needs sourcing for the bracket itself. Cable still has to reach the mounting position before the plate goes down, and the MF02 IP and MS02 IP run at 350mA, which means the driver lives elsewhere in the circuit rather than behind the bracket. Overall the plate measures 75mm by 35mm and stands 10mm deep, so the finished assembly stays tight to the wall.
Where It Works Best
This is an outdoor accessory first. Render or brick on a house elevation, a garden wall, a boundary pier, a porch return, the face of a timber clad outbuilding. Anywhere a pair of small accent beams needs to come off the same point. Putting two fittings on one plate is genuinely useful when you want a tight up and down wash from a single position, or two beams aimed at different things, a doorway and a planted bed for instance. Indoors it does exactly the same job on an exposed beam, a chimney breast or a picture wall. And because it is 316 rather than a lesser grade, it holds up on coastal and exposed sites where salt air would eventually pit lighter stainless.
About Collingwood Lighting
Collingwood designs and manufactures its LED products at Sywell in Northamptonshire, and has worked in LED specifically since 2002. The brand states it was among the first to put fire rated, fully sealed for life and mains dimmable LED products in front of the UK electrical wholesale trade. It also holds an EcoVadis Gold medal, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed worldwide on sustainability. Accessories like this bracket come out of the same engineering thinking as the fittings, which is why the grade and the finish match so exactly.
Good to Know
- Collingwood product code WB/M 02.
- Grade 316 stainless steel, brushed finish.
- Overall size 75mm by 35mm by 10mm deep, weighing around 0.1kg.
- Takes two fittings, either MF02 IP or MS02 IP.
- Wall fixings are supplied with the bracket.
- No electrical rating applies to this part. It is a mechanical bracket, so there is no IP figure, no electrical class and nothing to dim. Those properties belong to whichever fitting you mount in it.
- The MF02 IP and MS02 IP fittings are themselves rated IP65 and are also built in 316 stainless.
- Care is simple. Rinse with clean water and dry with a soft cloth. Do it more often on coastal sites, because salt left sitting on any stainless steel will mark the surface in time.
- 1 year warranty.
- Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Questions People Ask
How many fittings does the Collingwood WB/M 02 bracket take?
