One driver that speaks three dimming languages
The Collingwood PS6501100MA is the One4All driver, a constant current LED driver built so you do not have to commit to a control protocol at the design stage. DALI-2, 0-10V and push dimming are all built into the same unit, and the output current is adjustable anywhere from 650mA up to 1100mA. That means one part number covers a wide spread of Collingwood LED modules and a wide spread of control specifications. It supplies power to separately bought LED fittings rather than producing any light of its own.
A plain white polycarbonate case
The housing is moulded polycarbonate, 125mm long by 76mm wide and 30mm deep, weighing 190g. Flat fixing tabs sit at the corners so it can be screwed down against a joist or a backing board. The entire top face is printed: the Collingwood logo, the part code, the safety marks, the terminal legend and a full output current and setting table. That last detail matters more than it sounds, because it means an electrician can set the driver correctly on site without going back to the van for a datasheet.
How It Works
Mains at 220V to 240V, 50/60Hz, lands on the AC L and AC N terminals, drawing a maximum of 0.3A. A bank of five DIP switches on the top face selects the output current, and the printed table maps each switch combination to a current and its matching output voltage, which spans 14V to 42V. Rated output is 46W, maximum input is 53W, and Collingwood quotes 87 percent efficiency with a power factor of 0.95.
Control has its own terminals. DA1 and DA2 take a DALI line, DIM+ and DIM- take 0-10V, and the PUSH terminal accepts a retractive switch for push dimming. The LED output leaves through a DC plug and play connector. Input cable is sized 0.75mm² to 1.5mm² and output cable 0.5mm² to 1.5mm². Protection against over voltage, short circuit and thermal overload is built in.
Where It Works Best
This is ceiling void and back of fitting kit. Being IP20, it needs a dry, enclosed position: above a plasterboard ceiling, inside a service riser, in a plant cupboard, or tucked into a joinery detail alongside the fittings it feeds. It is rated for ambient temperatures from minus 20°C up to 45°C, so a warm ceiling void is well within its range.
It earns its keep most on jobs where the control specification is not settled, or is not the same in every zone. A refurbishment where the offices go DALI and the storerooms stay on a simple retractive switch can run the same driver throughout, set differently. On a maintained site it is a practical unit to keep as a spare, because a single one covers everything from 650mA to 1100mA and all three control methods.
About Collingwood Lighting
Collingwood Lighting designs its LED range from Sywell in Northamptonshire, and LED technology has been the whole of its business since 2002. The brand states it was among the first to put fire rated, sealed for life and mains dimmable LED products in front of the UK electrical wholesale trade. Collingwood also holds an EcoVadis Gold medal, which puts it in the top 5 percent of the companies EcoVadis assesses worldwide for sustainability.
Good to Know
- Covered by a 5 year Collingwood warranty.
- Rated IP20. That protects against solid objects larger than 12.5mm but offers no protection against water, so it must go somewhere dry and indoors.
- Class II construction, double insulated, with a SELV output. No earth connection is needed at the driver.
- Dimming is DALI-2, 0-10V or push. Pick one control method for the installation and set the driver to match it.
- Constant current output. The case is marked for use with LED modules only, so this is not the driver for 24V constant voltage LED strip.
- Built in protection covers over voltage, short circuit and thermal overload.
- Rated for ambient temperatures of minus 20°C to 45°C.
- No routine maintenance. If the case needs cleaning during other works, isolate the supply and wipe it with a dry cloth.
- Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Questions People Ask
What output current does the Collingwood PS6501100MA One4All driver deliver?
The Collingwood PS6501100MA One4All driver has a selectable constant current output of 650mA to 1100mA, chosen using the bank of five DIP switches on top of the unit, with an output voltage range of 14V to 42V and a rated output of 46W.
Which dimming systems work with the One4All PS6501100MA?
The One4All PS6501100MA supports DALI-2, 0-10V and push dimming from a single driver, using its DA1 and DA2 terminals for DALI, its DIM+ and DIM- terminals for 0-10V, and its PUSH terminal for a retractive switch.
Can the Collingwood PS6501100MA driver be installed outside?
No. The Collingwood PS6501100MA is rated IP20, which gives it no protection against water, so it has to be installed in a dry indoor position such as a ceiling void, a service riser or a plant cupboard.
What size is the Collingwood One4All PS6501100MA driver?
The Collingwood One4All PS6501100MA measures 125mm long by 76mm wide by 30mm deep and weighs 190g, and its case has flat fixing tabs at the corners for screwing down.
Does the Collingwood PS6501100MA driver need an earth connection?
No. The Collingwood PS6501100MA is a Class II double insulated driver with a SELV output, so no earth connection is required at the driver itself.
