A Connector Built for Outdoor RGBW Runs
The JB7 is a 5 pole screw terminal connector for joining lengths of Collingwood's 350mA RGBW colour change strip and cable. It's a single input, single output inline connector, built to seal fully once wired up so a joint out in the garden or behind cladding stays protected rather than becoming the point where water eventually gets in.
Sealed Plastic Housing With Screw Type Glands
The body is moulded plastic, measuring 128mm long and 32mm in diameter, with a screw type cable gland at each end that compresses down onto the cable jacket to form the seal. It's finished in matte black with teal accent rings marking the gland threads, and the housing is stamped made in Italy.
How It Works
- Takes 5 conductors, carrying the red, green, blue, white and common feeds a 350mA RGBW run needs, rather than the two conductors a single colour cable uses.
- Fits cable with an outside diameter between 7mm and 10.5mm, and a maximum conductor size of 4mm².
- Rated to 24V and 1.4A.
- Sealed to IP68 once assembled, and rated submersible to a depth of 1.3 metres.
Where It Works Best
Reach for the JB7 anywhere a 350mA RGBW run needs to continue past a point that will end up buried, rendered over, or otherwise permanently exposed to the weather, such as a run of garden strip buried underground, a facade lighting run behind cladding, or a feature run around a pond or water feature. Because it's rated submersible IP68 rather than just splash resistant, it suits joints that sit below ground or below the waterline, not only outdoors under cover. Pair it with Collingwood's CR575RGBW 5 core PVC cable if you need to extend a run to reach the connector.
Part of a Wider LED Strip System
Collingwood has specialised in LED technology since 2002, designing and manufacturing its products from Sywell in Northamptonshire. Connectors like the JB7 are part of a wider system of RGBW strip, drivers and accessories the brand builds to work together, and Collingwood states it was among the first to bring fully sealed, waterproof for life LED products to the UK electrical wholesale market. The brand has also been awarded a Gold medal by EcoVadis, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed globally for sustainability.
