Running RGB or RGBW lighting outside means dealing with joins in the cable at some point, and every one of those joins needs to stay dry. The Collingwood JB3 gives you a small, tough box to make that connection properly instead of relying on tape or a bag over the wires.
Built For Collingwood's RGB and RGBW Cable
The JB3 is made from plastic and measures 85mm by 85mm by 50mm, small enough to tuck away in a border or under a step. It's built around a 5 way terminal block with one input and up to seven outputs, so a single box can split a feed several ways. It's designed specifically for Collingwood's 4 x 0.75mm PVC RGB cable, so it isn't a general purpose connector for standard 2 core cable.
How It Works
Cable enters through one of the box's sealed glands and lands on the terminal block inside. From there, up to seven separate cables can branch off to feed different fittings or continue a run further round a scheme. The lid clips down over an O ring seal, closing the whole connection off from rain, soil moisture and standing water.
Where It Works Best
Use the JB3 wherever an outdoor RGB or RGBW lighting run needs to branch, extend or join. That could be a flower bed where several ground lights need feeding from one cable, a spot under decking where a run has to change direction, or any exposed corner of a garden scheme where a bare joint would otherwise be at risk. If a scheme needs more outputs than one box can provide, further JB3 boxes can be daisy chained together to keep expanding it.
