A Low Wash of Light You Can Walk Straight Over
The GL200 is a large domed marker light designed to sit flush into paving, decking or a path rather than stick up above it. Instead of throwing a bright spot underfoot, it casts a soft, grazing wash of light across the surface around it. The dome is walk over rated and IK10 impact resistant, so it is built to be stepped on, not just installed near where people walk.
This Version: Brass, Two Facets, Opposite Sides
This GL200 comes finished in brass and has two lens facets set into opposite sides of the dome. Each facet throws a 90 degree beam, so the light spreads in two directions from a single fitting. That makes it useful where you want to mark both edges of a path at once, or line the centre of a driveway rather than just one side. It runs at 3000K for a warm white glow, with an 80 CRI for reasonably accurate colour rendering, and puts out around 20 lumens from 5.7W.
How It Works
The GL200 wires straight to the mains and does not need a separate driver to run it. It is wired in parallel, so if several of these are run along a path or driveway, each fitting works independently of the others on the same circuit. This version is not dimmable, and the LED is integrated into the fixture rather than fitted as a separate bulb, so it is not something to swap out later. It is rated Class I for electrical safety.
Where It Works Best
Ground lights like this one earn their keep anywhere feet, wheels or weather regularly pass over them: garden paths, driveways, patios, decking and steps. Because it is walk over rated and IK10 impact resistant, it can go somewhere a car will drive over it as well as somewhere people will walk. The two opposite facets make it a good option for a driveway centre line, or for marking both sides of a path from one recessed point rather than needing two separate fittings.
Collingwood Lighting
Collingwood Lighting designs and manufactures its LED fixtures from Sywell in Northamptonshire, and has worked purely in LED technology since 2002. The brand says it was among the first to bring fully sealed, waterproof for life LED products to the UK electrical wholesale market, which suits a fitting like this one that is designed to sit below ground and take a battering. Collingwood has also been awarded an EcoVadis Gold medal, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed worldwide for sustainability.
