One Driver, Eight Settings
The DRV350700TD is a 20W constant current LED driver from Collingwood, built to power fittings that need a fixed current rather than a fixed voltage. A dip switch on the casing lets you choose the exact output, from 350mA up to 700mA across eight steps, so one driver can suit several different fittings depending on how it's set.
What You're Getting
This is the standard TRIAC dimmable version of the driver. It runs from a 220 to 240V mains supply and delivers up to 20W of constant current output at up to 48V, with SELV isolation on the output side for safety. It's CE marked and rated IP20, which means the casing is not sealed against moisture or dust.
How It Works
Instead of holding a steady voltage, the DRV350700TD holds a steady current and lets the voltage vary to suit whatever's connected to it. The dip switch on the front sets that current level, so you match the driver to the fitting rather than the other way round. Because it's mains dimmable, it will also work with a compatible dimmer switch if you want variable brightness, or it can be left running at a single fixed output with no dimmer at all.
Where It Works Best
Because it's rated IP20, this driver needs to sit somewhere dry and protected, such as a garage, loft space, indoor cupboard or a purpose built outdoor enclosure, rather than being buried in soil or left exposed to the weather. From there it can run cable out to constant current LED fittings used in garden and landscape schemes, including ground lights and feature lighting, as well as indoor low voltage setups that call for a dip switch adjustable driver.
About Collingwood Lighting
Collingwood Lighting has specialised in LED technology since 2002, designing and manufacturing its products from Sywell in Northamptonshire. Drivers like this one sit behind that same low voltage system, built to work with Collingwood's wider range of constant current fittings. The brand says it was among the first to bring fire rated, fully sealed and mains dimmable LED products to the UK electrical wholesale market, and it has since been awarded an EcoVadis Gold medal, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed globally for sustainability.
Good to Know
- Constant current LED driver, 20W output, dip switch adjustable between 350mA and 700mA across eight steps.
- IP20 rated, so it must be installed in a dry, protected location such as a garage, loft void or purpose built enclosure, not buried or exposed outdoors.
- Mains dimmable via a compatible TRIAC dimmer, or can be run at a fixed output with no dimmer at all.
- SELV output for safety isolation, CE marked.
- Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician, as this is a mains wired product.
Questions People Ask
What does the dip switch on the DRV350700TD actually do?
It sets the constant current output of the driver, letting you choose between 350mA and 700mA across eight steps so the same driver can be matched to different LED fittings.
Can I use this driver outdoors?
The driver itself is rated IP20, so it needs to be sited somewhere dry and protected, such as a garage, shed or sealed enclosure, even if the fittings it powers are used outdoors.
Will this work with a standard dimmer switch?
Yes. It's mains dimmable via a compatible TRIAC dimmer, though it can also be left running at a fixed output if you don't want variable dimming.
What's the difference between this and a constant voltage driver?
A constant current driver like this one holds the current steady and lets the voltage adjust to suit the connected fitting, which is the format many low voltage ground lights and feature lights are designed around.
