This is a DALI-2 emergency plug-in kit for Collingwood's Caiman CSP downlight. On its own it's just a mains fitting, but plug this kit in and the CSP becomes a self-contained emergency luminaire, one that keeps working for a set period if the mains supply cuts out.
What's In the Kit
The kit is built around a compact emergency converter with a rechargeable lithium battery pack attached to it, ready to fit inside the CSP housing. A short loom of coloured wires runs from the converter for connecting into the fitting, so there's no separate cabling to source. It's a single part with no colour or finish options, since it sits inside the fitting rather than being seen.
How It Works
The kit plugs straight into the compatible Caiman CSP housing, so fitting it doesn't mean rewiring the downlight from scratch. Once it's in place, the built in battery takes over the light's power supply automatically if the mains fails, giving the fitting genuine emergency capability rather than relying on a separate emergency fitting nearby.
It's worth knowing this is an accessory kit rather than a light source in its own right. It has no lumen output of its own, all of that still comes from the Caiman CSP fitting it's added to. It's also a non-dimmable unit once installed, so any dimming control the CSP had beforehand won't carry over.
