A Downlight That Disappears Into the Ceiling
The 1901 Single Adjustable Trimless takes the tilt and rotate head of the standard 1901 downlight and drops the visible bezel altogether. The plaster in ring sits below the surface, so once it's skimmed and painted, all you see is a clean circle of light with no rim or trim showing.
The All White Finish
This version pairs a white plaster in ring with a white aluminium light engine, so the fitting itself all but vanishes once it's finished. Because the plaster in ring accepts a range of cut out sizes rather than one fixed hole, it also gives an installer a bit more room to work with than a standard trim.
How It Works
- Runs at 9.6W total, with a 70 to 90mm cut out that suits most joist spacings.
- Choose from 2700K extra warm white, 3000K warm white, 4000K cool white, or a dim to warm option that drifts down toward 1800K as you dim it, closer to how a halogen bulb fades.
- Available in 12, 24, 45 or 50 degree beam angles, so the same fitting can throw a tight spot or a wide wash.
- Dimming is built in via mains, 1 to 10V or DALI control, depending on which driver option you choose.
- The head tilts 20 degrees and rotates 360 degrees before the plaster is finished, so you can still aim it at whatever you want lit.
Where It Works Best
Because it's rated IP20, this one belongs in dry indoor spaces rather than bathrooms or anywhere damp. It suits living rooms, kitchens, dining rooms, hallways, home offices, stairwells and commercial interiors, and works especially well where a plain, uninterrupted ceiling matters more than easy access to the fitting later.
Collingwood Lighting
Collingwood says it was among the first to bring fire rated LED downlights like this one to the UK electrical wholesale market, alongside fully sealed and mains dimmable products. The company has specialised in LED technology since 2002, designing and manufacturing from Sywell in Northamptonshire, and has been awarded a Gold medal by EcoVadis, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed globally for sustainability.

Questions People Ask
What does trimless mean on this downlight?
It means there's no visible metal bezel once it's fitted. The plaster in ring sits flush with the ceiling and gets skimmed over, so only the light itself shows.
Is this the same fitting as the standard 1901 Adjustable downlight?
The light engine and tilt and rotate head work the same way. The difference is the trim, this version uses a plaster in ring instead of a visible bezel, and takes a wider 70 to 90mm cut out range.
Can I still aim the light once the ceiling is plastered?
The head tilts 20 degrees and rotates 360 degrees before the plaster is finished, so it needs aiming at that stage. It isn't adjustable through the plastered surface afterwards.
What size hole do I need to cut?
The cut out ranges from 70 to 90mm, giving some flexibility if joists or existing wiring mean the hole can't be exactly one size.
Can this go in a bathroom?
No. It's rated IP20, which means it's designed for dry indoor rooms only.
