A Downlight That Disappears Until You Switch It On
Some downlights are meant to be noticed. This one isn't. The 1901 Single Adjustable Trimless has no visible bezel, just a recessed black baffle sitting flush with the ceiling, so the fitting itself all but vanishes into a dark or painted surface. Once it's on, the head still tilts up to 20 degrees and rotates a full 360 degrees, so you can angle the beam after fitting rather than being stuck pointing straight down.
Finished All Black, Trimless
This version is finished all black, housing and baffle both, for a uniform look that reads as a shadow gap rather than a fitting. Because there's no separate trim ring to line up, the cutout runs 70 to 90mm, and the aluminium body sits behind a low glare optic that keeps the light source itself out of view even when you look straight up at it.
How It Works
- Single 9.6W LED module, roughly 89 to 100 lumens per watt depending on colour temperature and beam
- CRI of 90+ for accurate, natural colour rendering
- Choose 2700K, 3000K, 4000K, or a Dim to Warm setting that drifts from 3000K down to 1800K as you dim it
- Beam angle options of 12, 24 or 50 degrees
- Head tilts 20 degrees and rotates 360 degrees once installed
- Dims via mains, 1 to 10V or DALI, with the driver bought separately to match whichever method you're wiring into
- Fits with rolled spring clips and plug and play connectors for a quick first and second fix
Where It Works Best
The trimless black finish suits rooms where you want the ceiling to stay quiet and let the light do the work, think dark or matt painted ceilings, galleries, or a minimal kitchen extension. The adjustability means it also earns its place over stairs, above a desk in a home office, or angled onto a feature wall, rather than just flooding a room evenly from directly above. It works equally well in living rooms, kitchens, dining rooms, hallways and commercial spaces such as shops or reception areas.
Collingwood Lighting
Collingwood built its name on fire rated downlights like this one. The brand says it was among the first to bring fire rated, fully sealed and mains dimmable LED products to the UK electrical wholesale market, and it has designed and manufactured its LED range from Sywell in Northamptonshire since focusing on LED technology in 2002. Collingwood has also been awarded an EcoVadis Gold medal, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed globally for sustainability.

Questions People Ask
What does "trimless" mean on this downlight?
There's no visible metal trim ring around the aperture. Only the black baffle and lens sit flush with the ceiling, which keeps the finish plain and uninterrupted.
Can I fit this in a bathroom?
No. It's rated IP20, which means it's designed for dry indoor spaces rather than zones where water or steam are present.
Does this come with a driver?
No. The driver is bought separately so you can match it to the dimming method you're installing, mains, 1 to 10V or DALI.
How far can the head move once it's installed?
It tilts up to 20 degrees off vertical and rotates a full 360 degrees, so you can redirect the beam toward a wall, artwork or worktop after fitting.
Can the LED be replaced if it fails?
No. The LED module is integral to the fitting, so the whole unit needs replacing rather than just a bulb.
