Two Beams, One Trimless Cut Out

The 1901 Double Adjustable Trimless Downlight fits two independent heads into a single plaster in fitting, so you get two aimable beams from one hole in the ceiling rather than two separate downlights. It's built for spots where you want a bit of directional control without adding extra cut outs, such as either side of a hallway or along a run of kitchen units.

This version comes in black, with the two adjustable heads visible below the ceiling line while the surrounding plate stays trimless. Once the plasterer skims over the edge, there's no visible trim ring, just the dark heads sitting neatly in the ceiling. It's made from aluminium, which helps the fitting shed heat from the two LED engines inside.

How It Works

Each head runs its own 9.6W LED engine, for 19.2W combined, and tilts 20° independently of the other, so you can angle each beam separately even though they share one ceiling cut out. Colour temperature and beam angle are fixed per fitting rather than mixed and matched: choose 2700K extra warm white, 3000K warm white, 4000K cool white, or a dim to warm option that shifts down to 1800K as you lower the dimmer, all rendering colour accurately at CRI90+. Beam angle comes in 12°, 24° or 50°, and the cut out is 70 to 90mm per head.

Dimming is mains, 1-10V or DALI, and the matching driver is supplied with the fitting and wired in via cable rather than built in, with the two heads wired in parallel from that one driver. Plug and play connectors keep the first and second fix straightforward.

Where It Works Best

Because it puts two beams through a single cut out, it suits places where you'd otherwise need two separate downlights close together: either side of a hallway, over a run of worktop, or either end of a landing. Being IP20 rated, it's meant for dry indoor spaces such as living rooms, kitchens, dining rooms, hallways, offices, stairwells and commercial areas, rather than bathrooms or anywhere damp.
