A Downlight You Can Aim After It's In
Most downlights point straight down and that's it. The 1901 Adjustable lets you tilt the head 20 degrees and spin it a full 360 degrees once it's fitted, so you can angle the beam exactly where you want it, onto a worktop, a piece of art or a reading chair, without moving the fitting itself.
The All White Finish
This version has a clean white, aluminium bezel and body that sit flush against a white or pale ceiling. It reads as understated rather than decorative, which suits rooms where you want the ceiling to stay quiet and the light to do the talking.
How It Works
- Runs at 9.6W total with a small 76 to 78mm cut out, so it fits most standard downlight holes.
- Choose from 2700K extra warm white, 3000K warm white, 4000K cool white, or a dim to warm option that drifts down toward 1800K as you dim it, closer to candlelight.
- Available in 12, 24 or 50 degree beam angles, so the same fitting can throw a tight spot or a wider wash depending on which version you pick.
- Dimming is built in via mains, 1 to 10V or DALI control, depending on which driver option you choose.
- The head tilts 20 degrees and rotates 360 degrees, so aiming happens after installation, not before.
Where It Works Best
Because it's rated IP20, this one is for dry indoor spaces only, not bathrooms or anywhere damp. Think living rooms, kitchens, dining rooms, hallways, home offices, stairwells and commercial interiors, anywhere you want the option to redirect the beam once furniture or artwork is in place.
Collingwood Lighting
Collingwood has been developing LED lighting since 2002, designing and manufacturing from Sywell in Northamptonshire. The company says it was among the first to bring fire rated downlights like this one to the UK electrical wholesale market, alongside fully sealed and mains dimmable LED products. Collingwood has also been awarded a Gold medal by EcoVadis, putting it in the top 5% of companies assessed globally for sustainability.
Good to Know
- Fire rated for use in timber and metal web joist ceiling constructions, giving extra protection where fire regulations apply.
- Rated IP20, so it suits dry rooms only. Not for bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor use.
- Certified to Part P and Part L standards.
- Comes with a 7 year warranty from Collingwood.
- This product is non returnable, so do check the beam angle and colour temperature you need before ordering.
- Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Questions People Ask
Can I change the angle after it's installed?
Yes. The head tilts 20 degrees and rotates a full 360 degrees, so you can redirect the beam at any point after fitting.
Which beam angle should I choose?
12 degrees gives a tight, focused spot, 24 degrees is a general purpose middle ground, and 50 degrees spreads the light widest, useful for washing a larger area.
What does dim to warm mean?
On that version, the colour temperature shifts down from 3000K toward 1800K as you dim, mimicking the warmer glow of an incandescent bulb being turned down.
Can this go in a bathroom?
No. It's rated IP20, which means it's designed for dry indoor rooms only.
Do I need a separate driver?
Dimming is handled by a driver supplied with the fitting, wired in via cable. Which driver you need depends on whether you're running mains, 1 to 10V or DALI dimming.
