A dimmer that's actually built for LED
Standard dimmers were designed for old style bulbs, and LED fittings often don't get on with them. You get flickering, buzzing, or lights that won't dim smoothly down to a low level. This Collingwood rotary dimmer is built specifically to handle LED loads, so a bank of downlights or other LED fittings runs smoothly from full brightness right down to a gentle glow.
Clean white finish for any room
The faceplate and rotary knob are finished in plain white plastic, so it sits neatly against a white wall or ceiling and doesn't draw attention to itself. It comes complete with a ring nut for fitting, ready to drop into a standard back box.
How It Works
- Push the knob to turn the circuit on or off, then rotate it to dim up or down.
- Controls up to 10 LED fittings on a single circuit.
- Has an adjustable minimum brightness setting, so you can set the lowest dim level yourself and stop the lights flickering or dropping out at the low end.
- Compliant with BS EN 60669-2-1, the safety standard for electronic switches.
Where It Works Best
This dimmer is aimed at anyone replacing an old halogen dimmer with something that actually works with LED downlights, whether that's a run of kitchen ceiling lights, a living room with multiple spots, or a hallway with several fittings on one switch. It needs a pattress box at least 35mm deep behind it, but fits into a standard single gang back box without any special cutting or preparation, so it's a straightforward swap for an electrician working on an existing lighting circuit.
About Collingwood Lighting
Collingwood Lighting has specialised in LED technology since 2002, and this dimmer is designed to work properly with the LED fittings that sit at the centre of that focus, rather than being a generic switch adapted for the job. The company designs and manufactures from its base in Sywell, Northamptonshire, and says it was among the first to bring mains dimmable LED products to the UK electrical wholesale market. Collingwood has also been awarded a Gold medal by EcoVadis, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed globally for sustainability.

Questions People Ask
How many LED lights can this dimmer control?
Up to 10 LED fittings on one circuit, depending on their individual wattage.
Will it fit my existing back box?
It fits a standard single gang back box, as long as the pattress box is at least 35mm deep.
Why does it have a minimum brightness setting?
LED fittings can flicker or cut out at very low dim levels. Setting a minimum brightness stops the dimmer trying to go lower than the LEDs can handle.
Is it push on/off or a separate switch?
It's a 2 way push on/off rotary dimmer, so the same knob turns the circuit on and off as well as adjusting the brightness.
Do I need an electrician to fit it?
Yes. Moonlight Design recommends using a registered NICEIC electrician for any dimmer installation.
