Does the smoked glass actually dim the light?
It does soften the intensity slightly compared to clear glass, creating a warmer ambience. For task lighting such as over a kitchen island, this is rarely an issue provided you choose dimmable bulbs, which give you full control over brightness.

What happens if my ceiling is very low?
The pendant's drop is adjustable from 50cm minimum to 250cm maximum, so you have flexibility. If your ceiling is quite low, you can set it at the minimum 50cm drop and it will still hang clear of your head.

Is this a standard UK installation?
Yes, it's Class I rated and wired to UK electrical standards, but it should be installed by a qualified electrician to ensure the earth connection is properly made.
