Muted Tones and Quiet Presence
Stretching 250cm with thirteen individually lit bells, this Cedar pendant combines a matt black frame with smoked glass shades that filter light into soft, neutral tones. It's a sophisticated pairing that works in contemporary kitchens, dining areas with dark walls, or anywhere you want to lower the visual energy without losing brightness. The subdued aesthetic suits minimalist and mid century interiors equally well.
Choosing Your Finish
Matt black and smoked glass are both about restraint. The black frame doesn't compete for attention, and the smoked glass tones down the brightness while still delivering usable light. Together they create a quiet, refined aesthetic that feels mature without being fussy. If this combination appeals to you but you want the frame to show more, the Cedar is available with brass or polished nickel and the same smoked glass.
How It Works
The pendant uses thirteen E14 lamp positions distributed across its full length. Each bulb can go up to 20W maximum. Wired to Class I standards, it needs an earth connection during installation. The fitting is dimmable with dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer, giving you the flexibility to raise or lower brightness to suit the time of day and the mood you want to create in the room.
Where It Works Best
Long dining tables, kitchen islands, and breakfast bars are obvious choices. The smoked glass also works well in spaces where you want to avoid harsh or bright light, in a hallway, bedroom or living room where you're more interested in atmosphere than task lighting. Hang it where people will actually spend time, rather than as background ceiling light.
Design Details
The Cedar uses a linear structural approach with handcrafted detailing. Each glass shade is mouth blown and finished individually, creating small variations in how light passes through the smoked glass. This handmade quality keeps the fitting from feeling overly uniform or mass produced. The matt black frame keeps the focus on the glass itself and on how the light moves through it.

Questions People Ask
Is smoked glass suitable for task lighting?
With thirteen bulbs, yes. The smoked glass does reduce brightness compared to clear glass, but you still get enough light for reading, cooking, or eating. If you need very bright task lighting, consider pairing this with additional wall lights or ceiling lights, or choosing the clear glass version instead.
Does the fitting look industrial?
No, it reads as contemporary and refined rather than industrial. Matt black can look industrial in the right context, but paired with soft smoked glass and hung in a dining or living space, it's more understated and elegant. The design is about subtlety rather than making a bold statement.
Would this work in a traditional room?
The matt black and smoked glass are fairly contemporary, but they're simple enough to sit in an eclectic space that mixes styles. If you have a very traditionally decorated room, the brass frame with smoked glass might feel more at home in that aesthetic.
