Softly Tinted Light the Length of a Long Table
This Cedar pendant stretches 250cm to light a dining table or kitchen run with thirteen points of light softened by smoked sculpted glass. The tinted glass filters the brightness into a mellow, slightly smoky tone that suits contemporary interiors and brings a touch of calm to spaces that could otherwise feel too brightly lit. The brass frame adds warmth and visual substance without feeling heavy.
Choosing Your Finish
Smoked glass sits between clear and coloured. It reduces glare and softens brightness without adding a strong colour cast. With the brass frame, you get a naturally warm aesthetic that works in kitchens, dining rooms and living areas where you want gentle, approachable light. The Cedar range comes with smoked glass across all three frame colours, so you can match your preferred metalwork.
How It Works
Thirteen E14 lamp holders spaced evenly along the pendant mean the light spreads without hot spots. Each holder takes up to 20W per bulb. The fitting is Class I, requiring an earth connection during installation. Pair it with dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer to adjust the brightness and warmth to suit different times of day and different moods in the room.
Where It Works Best
Anywhere you need to light a long horizontal run without creating harsh glare. Dining tables obviously work well, but this pendant also suits kitchen islands, breakfast bars, or even a long bedroom feature wall. The smoked glass makes it particularly good in spaces where you want to avoid the brightness you'd get from clear glass, while still having enough light to see properly.
Design Details
The Cedar range keeps things structurally simple: a linear frame holding sculpted glass shades that are both functional and visually interesting. Each shade is hand finished during manufacture, introducing subtle variations in how light passes through the smoked glass. These small differences prevent the fitting from reading as mass produced or overly uniform, even though all thirteen shades are nominally identical.

Questions People Ask
Will smoked glass make the room too dark?
Smoked glass does reduce brightness compared to clear glass, but with thirteen bulbs you still get plenty of light. The softening effect is more about comfort than darkness. You can always increase the wattage of the bulbs you choose, or use a dimmer at full brightness and then reduce it when you want a quieter feel.
How does the glass affect colour temperature?
Smoked glass gives all light passing through it a slightly grey or neutral tone. If you use warm white LEDs, they'll still read as warm through the smoked glass, just slightly toned down. Pair them with a dimmer and you have full control over both brightness and warmth.
Can I see the bulbs?
Yes. The smoked glass isn't opaque, so you'll be able to see the bulbs inside the shades, which can actually be quite attractive especially if you use vintage style or decorative E14 bulbs. This visibility is part of the appeal, showing the whole mechanism at work rather than hiding it.
