Soft Light Through Smoked Curves
The smoked glass bell cups on this 180 centimetre pendant filter the light into something gentler and more atmospheric than you would get from clear glass, without making the room feel dimly lit. Nine hand sculpted shades hang from a polished nickel frame, each one housing an E14 lamp. The darkness of the smoked glass creates an interesting contrast against the bright reflectivity of the nickel, so the fitting itself becomes as much a design feature as a light source.
Choosing Your Finish
Smoked glass offers a middle ground between clear and opaque, keeping light bright enough for task work but with a subtle amber or brown undertone that makes the glow feel warmer. The polished nickel frame is cool and contemporary, which works well with the warm tone of the smoked glass. If you are drawn to this style but would prefer a different glass colour or metal finish, the same pendant is offered in other combinations across the range.
How It Works
Nine E14 lamp holders are built into the pendant, each rated for 20 watts maximum, and the whole fitting is dimmable when you use dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer. The electrical installation is Class I, requiring an earth connection. The IP20 rating means it is designed for dry indoor environments and should not be exposed to splashing water or high humidity.
Where It Works Best
Long kitchen islands and dining tables are the natural home for a pendant spanning 180 centimetres, where you want light that spreads evenly without hot spots. It also works well in bedrooms where you are lighting a long wall or the length of a bed, and in living rooms and hallways where ceiling height and space allow for the drop. This fitting belongs indoors only, away from moisture, bathrooms and damp conditions.
Design Details
The Cedar range is built around the idea of linear light, creating the effect of stringing together individual light elements to form one coherent whole. Each smoked glass bell cup is hand finished, meaning the glass surface carries subtle texture and variation from one shade to the next. This handmade quality is what gives the pendant real visual interest and prevents it from feeling mass produced or uniform.

Questions People Ask
Is smoked glass darker than clear or cognac glass?
It sits between them in terms of how much light it filters. Clear glass lets light through almost completely, cognac adds a warm amber tint, and smoked adds a gentle grey or brown tone while still letting plenty of light through for kitchen work and dining.
What happens to the light colour once it comes through the smoked glass?
The light will appear slightly warmer and softer than it would through clear glass, taking on some of the grey or amber undertones from the glass itself. If you use warm white LED bulbs, the combination will be particularly cosy.
Can I install this myself or do I need an electrician?
We would always recommend having a qualified electrician install any pendant over a kitchen or dining area, as this fitting is Class I wired and requires a proper earth connection. It is not a job for DIY unless you are a trained electrician yourself.
