Softened Light Across a Long Expanse
The Cedar linear pendant measures 180cm end to end and holds nine E14 bulbs behind smoked glass shades, all mounted in a brass frame. The smoked tint filters and diffuses the light, preventing it from feeling harsh or overly clinical above your kitchen island or dining table. This creates a moodier, more ambient quality while still providing practical illumination where you need it.
Choosing Your Finish
Smoked glass is the middle ground between clear and cognac. It's neutral enough not to add obvious colour, but dark enough to reduce glare and soften the visual impact of nine lit bulbs in a row. Paired with brass, which brings inherent warmth regardless of what's shining through it, the overall effect is sophisticated without being fussy. The sculpted texture on the glass becomes visible only on close inspection.
How It Works
Nine E14 bulb positions run the length of the fitting, each supporting up to 20W. The distributed arrangement prevents dark corners and concentrations of brightness, instead smoothing out the light across the entire span. The fitting follows Class I electrical standards, requiring an earth connection during installation. IP20 rating confines it to dry indoor environments, away from bathrooms, kitchens with heavy steam, or any exposure to water.
Where It Works Best
Mount this over a kitchen island where you want even task lighting without the visual intensity of a clear glass pendant. It's equally suited to dining tables, kitchen bars, or breakfast areas. In open plan spaces, position it where you eat or work rather than expecting it to illuminate the whole room, and consider pairing it with additional ceiling or wall lights if the surrounding areas need coverage.
Design Details
The smoked glass works as a visual softener without sacrificing the fitting's architectural quality. The nine individual shades prevent the design from reading as a purely industrial strip, while the brass metalwork ensures it suits both period and contemporary kitchens. The sculptured glass finish adds subtle dimension that improves as you get closer to the fitting, rewarding detailed inspection.

Questions People Ask
Is it too dark with the smoked glass?
The smoked glass cuts glare and softens the appearance of the bulbs, but it doesn't eliminate brightness. With nine 20W bulbs it'll still deliver plenty of light for working on a kitchen island or reading a menu at a dining table. Dimming it further with dimmable bulbs gives you control if you want a more atmospheric effect in the evening.
How does smoked compare to the clear version?
Clear gives you maximum brightness and shows the bulbs and frame plainly. Smoked reduces glare, hides the bulb structure slightly, and creates a more finished, cohesive look. If you like visible mechanics, go clear. If you prefer softer aesthetics, smoked is the better choice.
Will the brass frame age or tarnish?
Brass naturally develops a patina over years of use and exposure, which some people love and others polish regularly to maintain brightness. This fitting starts with a factory finish that many customers keep intact, but you can absolutely polish it periodically if you prefer the newer, brighter appearance.
