A Blank White Face, Three Ways to Dim

Some walls need one flat white plate and three separate lighting circuits behind it, not three separate switches jostling for space. This 3G dimmer keeps the front plain and honest, a single stainless steel plate finished white, while the knurled knobs underneath do the actual work of easing three circuits up and down independently.

Choose Your Finish

The plate itself stays white on every version here, so the choice is really about the detail kit, the three knobs and their coin screws. Steel gives you a cool, brushed contrast against the white plate, Brass warms the same white up considerably, and White on White lets the whole switch all but vanish into a pale wall.

How It Works

Three independent rotary dimmer modules sit behind the plate, each a push on/off, turn to dim mechanism rated two way at 10AX. Every module runs on standard UK 230 to 240V wiring at 50Hz and dims LED bulbs from 5 to 120W, or incandescent and halogen from 60 to 400W, with an electronic soft start that eases each circuit up rather than snapping it to full brightness.

Where It Works Best

A 3G plate suits a room with three genuinely separate lighting zones, a kitchen with ceiling spots, under cabinet lighting and a pendant over the table, say, each wanting its own level. Fewer circuits than that and the 1G or 2G versions make more sense; a fourth zone, a floor lamp circuit alongside three others, for instance, is the point to look at the 4G plate instead.

Long before Buster + Punch existed, Massimo Buster Minale was rebuilding motorbikes by hand in a lock up in Shoreditch, having spent his working days as an architect at practices including Foster and Partners.
