A Two Gang Dimmer With a Fine Linear Knurl

This is a two gang dimmer switch finished in white, with two independent rotary dimmer modules set behind one plate. The knob carries Buster + Punch's Linear Knurl pattern, a run of fine straight ridges that catches the light and gives your fingers real grip when you turn it.

The white back plate stays fixed. What changes is the knob and collar. White keeps the whole switch quiet and blends into a pale wall. Brass brings a warm metallic edge that stands out against white paintwork. Steel gives a cooler, more industrial look. All three sit on the same white plate, so you can pick the finish that suits how you want the switch to read on the wall, not the wall itself.

How It Works

Each of the two dimmer modules works independently, so you can run two separate lighting circuits from one plate and set each one to its own level. Both modules use electronic soft start and two way switching, and dim LED bulbs rated 5W to 120W or incandescent and halogen bulbs rated 60W to 400W. The switch runs on a standard 230 to 240V, 50Hz UK supply.

Where It Works Best

Two independent dimmers in one plate suit rooms with two lighting zones you want to control separately, a living room with a pendant and wall lights, or a kitchen diner with task lighting and a softer overhead glow. If you only need to control one circuit, the single gang version in this range does the job with less plate on the wall. Buster + Punch started in 2013, when Massimo Buster Minale left architecture, where he'd worked at practices including Foster and Partners, to build custom motorbikes by hand in a garage in Shoreditch. That habit of machining every part himself rather than buying it in carried straight across into the switches, which is why the knob and plate here are solid metal rather than moulded plastic or stamped steel.

Can I dim any LED bulb with this switch?

What's the difference between this and the Cross Knurl version?
The plate, modules and electrical rating are identical. The only difference is the knob detail: Cross Knurl has a diamond cut cross hatch pattern, Linear Knurl has fine straight ridges running around the knob.

Do the two dimmers on this plate control the same circuit?
