Unlike a standard on and off toggle, an intermediate switch lets one lighting circuit be controlled from a third location, so it's built for staircases, landings and long hallways rather than a simple single point room.

This version comes as a solid Black plate with a Black toggle arm and collar, so there's no accent colour to choose here. If you'd rather mix in Brass or Smoked Bronze, those finishes are available on the intermediate switch elsewhere in this collection.

How It Works

An intermediate switch isn't a simple on and off toggle. It sits between two two way switches on the same circuit, so a light can be turned on or off from three or more locations, for example at the top and bottom of a staircase plus a landing in between, or at either end of a long hallway with a switch in the middle. Rated 250V, 10A, 50Hz, with the same firm mechanical action as the rest of the range.

Anywhere a single light needs to be switched from more than two points: a staircase, a long corridor, an open plan space with several entrances. Because it's a single gang plate, it handles one circuit. For rooms where several circuits each need multi point control, the same Black Linear Knurl finish is available in larger gang sizes in this collection, alongside the standard two way toggles.

Buster + Punch was founded in 2013 by Massimo Buster Minale, an architect who had worked at practices including Foster and Partners before turning to building custom motorbikes by hand in a Shoreditch garage.
