This single gang dimmer has a clean white back plate, the easiest option for blending into a painted wall rather than standing out against it. The knob carries Buster + Punch's Linear Knurl pattern and comes in white, brass or steel, so the one point of visible metal can match or contrast as you like.

Choose Your Knurl Finish

White on white keeps the whole switch flush and unobtrusive, ideal where you want the plate to disappear into the wall. Brass brings a warm metallic accent against the white, while steel gives a cooler, more graphic contrast. The knurl pattern itself, fine straight ridges, is identical across all three.

How It Works

A single rotary dimmer module sits behind the plate, with electronic soft start and two way switching so you can also control the circuit from a second switch. It dims LED bulbs from 5W to 120W or incandescent and halogen bulbs from 60W to 400W, on a 230 to 240V, 50Hz supply.

Where It Works Best

A single dimmer suits one circuit, useful in a bedroom, nursery or landing where a plain white plate is the better match for the decor. Where a room runs two or more circuits, the 2 gang, 3 gang and 4 gang white dimmers in this range keep the same plate colour and knurl choice across multiple modules.

Founder Massimo Buster Minale set up Buster + Punch in 2013 after leaving architecture, he'd previously worked at practices including Foster and Partners, to build motorbikes by hand in a Shoreditch garage. That hands on habit of machining parts rather than moulding them in plastic carries through to a switch like this, solid metal knob and knurl on a painted metal plate.

Will the white plate match standard UK wall paint?
It's a neutral white finish designed to sit quietly against most white or off white painted walls, though we'd always recommend checking a sample against your exact paint if it needs to match precisely.

What's different about this compared to the Cross Knurl white dimmer?
Only the knob's texture changes. This one has the Linear Knurl pattern, fine straight ridges, in place of the original diamond cut Cross Knurl knob. The plate, wiring and dimmer module are the same.

Can I dim any LED bulb with this switch?
