This single gang dimmer switch is cut entirely from brass, plate and knob both, so the whole fitting reads as one warm, matching piece on the wall. The knurl runs in fine straight lines around the knob rather than the diamond cut pattern of Buster + Punch's original Cross Knurl switches, giving it a slightly quieter, more linear texture to the touch.

How It Works

Behind the plate sits a single rotary dimmer module with electronic soft start, wired for two way switching so you can control the same circuit from a second switch elsewhere in the room. It dims LED bulbs rated 5W to 120W, or incandescent and halogen bulbs rated 60W to 400W, and runs on a standard UK 230 to 240V, 50Hz supply.

A single dimmer like this suits any room with one lighting circuit to control, a living room, bedroom or hallway. Where a room has two or three separate circuits, such as ceiling lights and wall lights on different runs, the 2 gang and 3 gang versions in this same brass finish let you dim each one independently from a single plate.

Buster + Punch was started in 2013 by Massimo Buster Minale, an architect who had worked at practices including Foster and Partners before he left to build motorbikes by hand in a garage in Shoreditch. Is this the same switch as the Cross Knurl brass dimmer?
The plate, module and wiring are identical. The only difference is the knob's texture, this one has fine straight linear knurl lines rather than the diamond cut Cross Knurl pattern.

Will it dim my LED bulbs properly?
