A Single Circuit, Properly Dimmed

This 1G dimmer switch is built from solid metal rather than the thin stamped steel or moulded plastic most switch plates are made from. The plate is finished in matte black, and the rotary dimmer knob carries Buster + Punch's linear knurl, a run of fine straight ridges rather than the brand's original diamond cut pattern, giving the switch a grip that reads as machined rather than moulded.

Choose Your Knurl Finish

The black plate stays fixed here, so the choice is in the knob and collar nut. Black for a switch that all but disappears into a dark wall, Brass for a warm point of contrast, or Steel for a cooler, more industrial edge. All three carry the same linear knurl grip.

How It Works

Behind the plate sits a single rotary dimmer module with electronic soft start, so lights ease up from off rather than snapping on at full brightness. It's a two way switch, wired to standard UK 230 to 240V at 50Hz, and dims LED bulbs from 5 to 120W or incandescent and halogen bulbs from 60 to 400W.

Buster + Punch was founded in 2013 by Massimo Buster Minale, an architect who had worked at practices including Foster and Partners before turning to building custom motorbikes by hand in a garage in Shoreditch. That habit of machining every part rather than buying it in is why this switch is worked from solid metal, and why the detail kit unscrews and can be swapped for a different finish or pattern later rather than replaced outright.

Both use the same 1G dimmer module and plate. This version carries Buster + Punch's linear knurl, a straight ridged grip, rather than the diamond cut cross knurl pattern used on the brand's original range.

What bulbs can I dim with this switch?
