A Dimmer in Solid Metal, Finished With Diamond-Cut Knurl
This 1G dimmer switch is machined from solid stainless steel rather than the moulded plastic most switch plates are made from. The plate is finished in matte black, and the rotary dimmer knob carries Buster + Punch's original diamond-cut cross knurl, a grid of raised points that gives the control a firm, deliberate grip under the thumb.
Choose Your Knurl Finish
The black plate stays fixed here, so the choice is in the knob and collar nut. Black keeps the whole switch reading as one dark block on the wall, Brass adds a warm point of contrast, and Steel gives a cooler, more industrial edge. All three carry the same cross knurl grip.
How It Works
Behind the plate sits a single rotary dimmer module, wired to standard UK 230 to 240V at 50Hz, and rated for LED bulbs from 5 to 120W or incandescent and halogen bulbs from 60 to 400W. It controls one lighting circuit independently of any other switch on the wall. As with all hardwired Buster + Punch electrics, installation should always be carried out by a qualified electrician.
Where It Works Best
A single gang dimmer suits any spot where one circuit does the job: a bedroom pendant, a run of hallway downlights, a reading lamp wired on its own circuit. Made By Buster + Punch
Cutting a knurled grip into solid metal, rather than moulding a texture into plastic, takes more effort but gives a dimmer knob a very different feel under the thumb. It's the kind of detail you'd expect from Massimo Buster Minale, who trained as an architect, worked at practices including Foster + Partners, and then spent his evenings machining his own motorbike parts in a Shoreditch garage instead of buying them in when he started Buster + Punch in 2013. The plate, module and knurled knob on this switch stay as separate parts for the same reason: so any one of them can be replaced or reworked without touching the rest.

What's the difference between this and the linear knurl dimmer?
Both use the same 1G dimmer module and plate. This version carries Buster + Punch's original cross knurl, a diamond-cut grid pattern, rather than the straight-ridged linear knurl used elsewhere in the range.
What bulbs can I dim with this switch?
