The Nans S/16/H is a compact hanging pendant, hand woven from synthetic fibre so its light comes through the weave as a soft, dappled glow rather than a single bright point. Bover named the wider Nans collection after Cala Nans, a secluded cove near Cadaques, and that quiet Mediterranean character carries through into this smaller piece. It is built for hanging beneath trees, pergolas or open beams, where several can be strung at different heights.

Three Woven Colours: Beige, Brown and Red

Beige gives a pale, sandy tone that blends quietly into stone, timber or planting. Brown is warmer and closer to natural cane, sitting well against aged wood or dark metal. Red is the boldest option, adding a spot of colour among greenery rather than disappearing into it. All three are woven from the same weather ready polyethylene fibre over an aluminium and stainless steel frame, so the choice comes down to which tone suits the space.

How It Works

An integrated LED sits inside the woven shade, rated at 8W and 635 lumens with a warm 2700K colour temperature and a CRI of 90. Light diffuses through the fibre weave rather than shining directly, giving a gentle, scattered glow. It comes on a 3900mm cable, long enough to set the drop for hanging under a pergola beam or a tree branch, and is rated IP54 for use in sheltered outdoor spots.

Its small scale and soft glow suit garden paths, porches and pergolas, especially when a few are hung together at varying heights along a walkway or under a canopy of branches. Made By Bover

Bover was founded in Barcelona in 1996 by Joana Bover, growing out of a sketch she drew for an architect friend's project. The company still designs and makes its lighting in Spain, working from Cardedeu near Barcelona. Outdoors, Bover is known for pieces like this one, built up by hand from woven synthetic fibre, while indoors it takes a different craft further with wood lattice fixtures such as the Dome family, woven from over 170 individual strips of beech. Across both, the designs carry a distinctly Mediterranean feel. Bover opened a US subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012.
