Bringing a Strip of Sky Into a Windowless Room
Rooms without a real window tend to feel flat under ordinary downlights. Mantra's Blue Sky rectangular panel recesses into the ceiling and glows with a gradient from soft white through to sky blue, mimicking the way light shifts as you look up through an actual skylight. It is a small trick, but in a galley kitchen or an internal corridor it genuinely changes how the room feels.
A Single Matt White Finish
This rectangular 59.5 by 29.5cm version is made in one matt white frame only, kept deliberately plain so the panel reads as a calm part of the ceiling rather than a statement fitting. There are no colour options to pick between on this size, the choice instead is between panel shapes: Mantra also offers Blue Sky as a 29.5cm square with a 16W engine for smaller spots, and a larger 59.5cm square with a 60W engine for wider ceiling areas.
How It Works
A 35W integrated LED engine sits behind the printed sky diffuser, delivering 2975 lumens at 4000K with a CRI above 80. Output is fixed rather than dimmable, so it runs constantly at the same brightness once switched on. The unit recesses to 8cm and clips into the ceiling void using spring loaded corner fixings, and it is built to Class II standard, meaning no separate earth connection is needed.
Where It Works Best
The elongated 59.5 by 29.5cm shape suits runs above a kitchen worktop, a narrow hallway ceiling, or a stretch of office corridor where a square panel would look cramped. Its 2975 lumen output covers considerably more floor area than the small 16W square, while stopping short of the largest 60W square, which is better suited to bigger open plan rooms needing an even higher output from a single point.
Made By Mantra
Mantra started out in Valencia in 2000 with a straightforward aim, make lighting that looked properly designed without the price tag that usually comes with it. Since 2007 the in house team has worked alongside independent designers such as Jose Ignacio Ballester, whose Sabina collection is one of several ranges that have helped build the brand's reputation beyond Spain, and the company now distributes across Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Mantra sits in the design conscious mid market rather than chasing the architectural credentials of names like Louis Poulsen, but that has not stopped it from continuing to develop technical pieces like Blue Sky.

Questions People Ask
Will this panel work as my main kitchen light?
At 2975 lumens it puts out a good amount of light for its size, and many customers do use a single rectangular panel as the main ceiling light above a kitchen run, though how far it stretches will depend on your ceiling height and room size.
Is it dimmable?
No, the output is fixed, so it is designed to be switched on and off rather than dimmed.
What other sizes does Blue Sky come in?
This rectangular 35W panel sits between a smaller 16W square and a larger 60W square, so you can match the panel to the size of the ceiling area you are lighting.
