The Utopia Sphere is a semi flush ceiling light built around four glass globes arranged in a broad circular frame, sitting close to the ceiling rather than dropping down on a long rod. At 70.5cm wide and 70.5cm deep, it reads as a real centrepiece rather than a quiet background fitting, while the semi flush profile keeps the projection down to 32.5cm so it stays practical in rooms with average ceiling heights.
Matt antique brass finish
This version is finished in a matt antique brass, giving the steel frame a warm, slightly aged tone rather than a bright polished shine. Paired with the glass globes, it sits comfortably alongside warm woods, brass hardware and softer, layered colour schemes. As with any hand finished metalwork, expect a little natural variation in tone from piece to piece, which is part of the character rather than a flaw.
How it works
The fitting takes four 7W LED golf bulbs with an E14 fitting, sold separately, so you can choose the warmth and brightness that suits the room. It's dimmable when used with dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch, though the fitting itself doesn't include integrated LEDs. The frame and glass globes arrive ready to assemble onto the ceiling plate, and because this is a mains wired fitting, we'd always recommend having it installed by a registered NICEIC electrician. At around 2.8kg, it's also worth having your electrician check that the ceiling fixing point can comfortably take the weight before it goes up.
Where it works best
Its wide, symmetrical shape and warm brass tone make it a natural fit for living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and hallways, especially where you want a fitting that reads well from below rather than one designed to be looked into. Because it carries an IP20 rating, it's designed for dry indoor rooms rather than bathrooms or other areas with moisture.
