The Pyrus Ceiling Light in Matte White Striped is a handmade ceramic flush fitting, 10cm tall and 27cm wide, with a matte white ground and fine hand painted stripes. Sitting close to the ceiling in a broad, shallow form, it brings the same clean, graphic character found across the Matte White Striped finish to a flush format suited to rooms where a hanging pendant is not practical. Every shade is painted individually at Mullan Village, County Monaghan, before firing, so the stripes carry the slight natural variation in width and spacing that marks it out as genuinely handmade rather than a printed reproduction.
How It Works
The open ceramic shade faces downward, directing the E27 bulb's light straight into the room below, while the matte white surface reflects cleanly at the rim and brightens the ceiling area around the fitting. It is compatible with dimmable E27 bulbs, and a warm white dimmable LED gives full control over brightness and mood through the day.
Where It Works Best
The Matte White Striped finish is one of the most adaptable in the Pyrus range, pairing with almost any wall colour, material combination and metal hardware finish. It works particularly well in rooms with natural stone, pale timber, warm whites and soft greys, and suits a bedroom, dining room, hallway or living room where the ceiling should contribute something considered without imposing a colour or material.
The Story Behind Mullan
Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who restored a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan, into a working ceramics studio. The matte white striped finish reflects the bleached stone and whitewashed plaster of the historic buildings around the village, with the fine striping developed by ceramicist Stephen Kieran and his team. More than 100 craftspeople now work at Mullan Village, and every piece is made entirely to order using sustainable clay and recycled brass, with finished lights exported to more than 55 countries.

Will the stripes be perfectly even?
No, and that is intentional. The stripes are hand painted, so there is natural variation in width and spacing.
Is this suitable for a bathroom?
This fitting is IP20 rated and suitable for dry indoor areas only. It is not certified for bathroom wet zones.
Can I use a dimmable bulb?
Yes. Compatible with dimmable E27 LED bulbs. Ensure your dimmer switch is rated for LED use. Bulb not included.
