The Mullan Pyrus Ceiling Light in Matte White Striped is a handmade Irish ceramic flush ceiling fitting that brings the clean, precise character of the matte white striped finish to a ceiling surface too often left as a design afterthought. The ceramic shade is formed and hand painted at the studio in Mullan Village, County Monaghan, Ireland, with the matte white ground and fine striped detailing applied individually to every piece before firing in the on-site kiln. Because every shade is painted by hand, the striping carries a natural variation unique to each piece — the hallmark of genuine handmade ceramic work and the quality that distinguishes it immediately from anything standardised or mass produced.

Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who saw the derelict 19th century flax mill at the heart of Mullan Village as an opportunity to build a ceramics studio of genuine international standing. The village name is derived from muileann, the Irish word for mill, and that deep connection to craft, material and place runs through every product the studio makes. The matte white striped finish reflects the clean, bright quality of the bleached stone and whitewashed surfaces found throughout the historic buildings of County Monaghan, and the Pyrus ceiling light brings this quality to a flush format that suits rooms where pendant ceiling drops are impractical. Today the studio employs over 100 craftspeople and exports to more than 55 countries, with installations in landmark venues including the Titanic Hotel Belfast and Adare Manor.

The Pyrus Matte White Striped ceiling light is well suited to bedrooms, dining rooms, hallways and bathrooms where a flush or semi flush fitting is the practical preference and where the clean aesthetic of the finish contributes positively to the room's design rather than simply providing light. Its versatile matte white striped surface pairs with virtually any interior palette, wall colour and metal hardware finish.
