A Slender Column of Warm Light, About Half a Metre Tall
The Tooy Pilar & Viga vertical 48cm pendant light turns the idea of a pillar into a lamp. Designed by Marco Casamonti of Studio Archea, it is a slim, upright fitting approximately 48.5cm high and 16cm by 15cm across, hung from a 150cm cable. At around 2150 lumens it gives real room lighting rather than just an accent, and it sends light both up and down. Hang a pair either side of a bed, or one in a stairwell or hallway.
Two Finishes, Beige and Bronzed Steel
Beige gives the column a pale, matte look that suits plaster, lime wash and light timber. Bronzed Steel is richer and darker, and it picks up warm tones in brass taps, dark wood and leather. Both keep the clean architectural outline that defines the collection.
How it works
A 35W integrated LED at 2700K is built in and gives around 2150 lumens of warm white light, so there are no bulbs to buy or change. We do not have dimming details for this version, so please ask us if you need to dim it. It hangs from a ceiling fixing on a 150cm cable. A qualified electrician should always install this fitting.
Where it works best
The slim footprint suits tight spaces where a wide shade would be in the way. Think bedside pendants, a narrow entrance hall, the end of a dining table or a landing. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry indoor rooms only.
The story behind Tooy
Italian brand Tooy was set up in 2015 by Valeria Giacomozzi and Valerio Tidei in the Marche region. It grew out of Gibas, the Giacomozzi family company that has made tailor made lighting in Marche since 1959. Corrado Dotti has been creative director since 2017, and Tooy lamps are made in Italy. For the Structure collection, Tooy worked with architect Marco Casamonti of Studio Archea.
