A 185cm Floor Lamp That Works Like a Pillar
The Tooy Pilar & Viga floor lamp is designed by Marco Casamonti of Studio Archea, and it is the pillar of the collection standing on the floor. It is a tall, slim column of light, and a genuinely large fitting: it stands approximately 185cm high and 16cm by 15cm across. It is a statement floor lamp for a living room corner, a reading spot or a tall space that needs a vertical accent.
Four Finish Combinations
The floor lamp comes in four combinations of its two finishes: Bronzed Steel with Bronzed Steel, Beige with Beige, Bronzed Steel with Beige, and Beige with Bronzed Steel. The all Bronzed version is dark and warm, the all Beige version is soft and pale, and the mixed versions pair the two tones for a quieter contrast. Check the variant name carefully when ordering.
How it works
A 145W integrated LED at 2700K is built in and gives around 8500 lumens of warm white light, so there are no bulbs to buy. That is a lot of light for a floor lamp, enough to light a room. It can be dimmed, with the manufacturer listing a dimmer on the cable. The cable is 300cm long. A qualified electrician should always install this fitting.
Where it works best
Use it in a living room beside a sofa or armchair, in a tall corner, or against a wall where you want height and a warm wash of light. With this output it can serve as the main light in a smaller room. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry indoor rooms only.
The story behind Tooy
Italian brand Tooy was set up in 2015 by Valeria Giacomozzi and Valerio Tidei in the Marche region. It grew out of Gibas, the Giacomozzi family company that has made tailor made lighting in Marche since 1959. Since 2017 Corrado Dotti has been creative director, and Tooy lamps are made in Italy. Marco Casamonti, an architect and professor who leads Archea Associati, designed the Structure collection.
