A Slim Linear Chandelier Built From a Black Steel Grid
The Tooy Quadrante 8 Light Chandelier is designed by Roberto Giacomucci and made from welded steel pipes in a geometric grid. It is a long, low black linear chandelier, and it measures approximately 92cm long, 33cm deep and 12cm high, before the cable is added. That is wider than most people expect, so it suits a dining table or kitchen island rather than a small corner.
Matte Black Powder Coat
This version comes in one finish, Matte Black. The steel pipes are powder coated, so the frame reads as a sharp, graphic line of black above a table, with the bulbs sitting along it like points on a grid. It looks equally at home against white walls, timber or dark colours.
How it works
Eight G9 lamp holders each take a bulb of up to 4W LED. Bulbs are not supplied, and the largest bulb that fits is about 1.8cm across and 5.7cm high. It is dimmable if dimmable bulbs are used. It hangs from a 125cm steel cable, with a 150cm black electric cable and a 13cm canopy and bracket included. A qualified electrician should always install this fitting.
Where it works best
Hang it over a dining table or a kitchen island, along a hallway or above a console. The slim profile keeps sight lines open, and eight small bulbs give a soft, even light rather than a harsh one. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry indoor rooms only.
The story behind Tooy
Tooy was founded in 2015 by Valeria Giacomozzi and Valerio Tidei in Italy's Marche region. It began as a spin off from Gibas, the Giacomozzi family lighting company that has made tailor made lighting in Marche since 1959. Corrado Dotti has been creative director since 2017, and the brand's lamps are made in Italy.
