A Small Pendant Light Made From One Curved Ribbon of Metal
The Tooy Nastro Small Pendant Light is designed by Studiopepe, and the whole Nastro range grows from one idea: the lightness of a ribbon meeting the solidity of a counterweight. Here that means a slim curved metal band holding a single bulb, with a small cylinder at the end to balance it. It is about 11cm wide and 37cm high, hung from a 150cm cable, so it makes a neat bedside pendant light, a discreet light over a desk or shelf, or a row of small pendants above a counter.
Four Band Colours, Five Cylinder Colours
The band is powder coated in Beige, Terracotta, Greenish Grey or Sand Black. The cylinder weight can then match it or contrast with it, in Beige, Terracotta, Greenish Grey, Sand Black or Brushed Brass. A matching pair reads as one calm, soft colour. A Terracotta band with a Sand Black cylinder, for example, turns the counterweight into a small dark detail you notice only when you look up.
How it works
The pendant takes one E27 bulb of up to 12W. A bulb is not supplied, and the largest bulb that fits is about 8cm across and 11.4cm high. It can be dimmed if you fit a dimmable bulb. The light head can be angled through a range of about 200 degrees, so you can aim the light where you need it. It hangs from a ceiling fixing on a 150cm black cable. A qualified electrician should always install this fitting.
Where it works best
Choose it where a larger fitting would overpower the space: beside a bed, in a reading corner, above a narrow console or in a hallway niche. Hung in a group at different heights, small pendants like this also make a relaxed, informal cluster over a kitchen counter. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry indoor rooms only.
The story behind Tooy
Tooy was set up in 2015 by Valeria Giacomozzi and Valerio Tidei in Italy's Marche region. It grew out of Gibas, the Giacomozzi family lighting company that has been making tailor made lighting in Marche since 1959. Corrado Dotti has led the brand's creative direction since 2017, and its lamps are made in Italy.
