A Larger Glass Wall Light with a Strong Presence
The Tooy Legier large wall light is designed by Corrado Dotti and scales the collection's Murano inspired globe up for bigger walls. It measures about 35cm across, 38cm deep and 35cm high, so it is a proper feature rather than a background light. Use it as a statement wall light above a sideboard, on a stairwell or at either end of a long hallway.
Choosing Glass and Ring
The frame is Sand Black powder coated metal. Opal White glass turns the globe into a soft lantern, and Smoke glass gives a darker, richer glow. The Light Grey ring is the more subtle choice, and the Brushed Brass ring adds a warm metallic band that catches the light.
How it works
The LED is built in, so no bulbs are needed. It is a 2700K warm white source of about 8.2W, giving around 1375 lumens, and it is dimmable on a phase cut dimmer. The fitting mounts to the wall and is hard wired. A qualified electrician should always install this fitting.
Where it works best
It suits larger walls, double height spaces, stairwells, dining rooms and wide hallways, and a pair flanking a mirror or headboard looks balanced. It is rated IP40, so it is for dry indoor rooms only.
The story behind Tooy
Tooy was founded in 2015 by Valeria Giacomozzi and Valerio Tidei in Italy's Marche region. It grew out of Gibas, the Giacomozzi family lighting company that has made tailor made lighting in Marche since 1959. Corrado Dotti, who trained with Matteo Thun and then Armani Casa before opening his own studio in 2009, has been creative director since 2017. Tooy lamps are made in Italy.
