TOOY Legier Suspension Pendant Light -25cm

There is a particular pleasure in a design that knows exactly where it comes from and arrives somewhere entirely new. The Legier 25cm suspension pendant by Corrado Dotti for Tooy draws its inspiration from the classic forms of Murano glass perfume bottles — those considered, rounded vessels that have been produced in the Venetian lagoon for centuries — and translates that heritage into a pendant light of quiet sophistication and genuine material beauty.

The hand blown glass diffuser at the heart of this fitting is available in opal white or fumè — two expressions of the glassmaker's craft that produce very different qualities of light. The opal white glass is warm and luminous, distributing light evenly in all directions and filling the space around the fitting with a soft, encompassing glow. The fumè glass is darker and more characterful, the tinted surface giving the light a subtlety and depth that suits more considered, layered interior schemes. In both cases the glass is blown by hand, which means each diffuser carries the slight variations of form and surface that distinguish a genuinely handmade object from a manufactured one.

The powder coated sand black metal structure holds the glass with a precision that makes the relationship between metal and glass feel considered rather than functional. The ring detail — available in light grey or brushed brass — introduces a further material element that shifts the character of the fitting meaningfully. Light grey keeps the palette cool and tonal, sitting beautifully in contemporary interiors with stone, plaster and neutral textiles. Brushed brass introduces warmth and a quiet material luxury that elevates the fitting into something more personal.

At 25cm this pendant works beautifully as a single accent above a small table or in a corner, or as one element in a composed group where the rounded form of the Legier glass creates a rhythm of repeated organic shapes across the ceiling plane.

Made to order in Tooy's workshop in the Marche region of Italy, where six decades of manufacturing heritage rooted in the Giacomozzi family's Gibas company ensure that a fitting of this material delicacy is produced with the craft and precision it deserves.
