A Glass Lantern Wall Light With a Soft Glow
The Tooy Filipa Wall Light is designed by Corrado Dotti and takes the Chinese lantern idea onto the wall. A 16cm glass diffuser is held out from the wall on a slim metal arm, in a frame approximately 28cm wide, 18.5cm deep and 49cm high. The glass glows softly against the wall, which makes it a good bedside wall light or a gentle wall light for a hallway.
Sand Black with Sand Grey or Two Tone Leather
Sand Black with Sand Grey is restrained and graphic, and it sits well on light or dark walls. Sand Black with Two Tone Leather adds a warm, tactile accent to the frame, which suits bedrooms and reading corners. Both use the same glass diffuser.
How it works
A G9 lamp holder takes a bulb of up to 5W, which is not supplied. The wall light is dimmable if a dimmable bulb is used. It is fixed to the wall on a single backplate. A qualified electrician should always install this fitting.
Where it works best
Fit one either side of a bed in place of table lamps, or use a pair beside a mirror or along a corridor. The low wattage keeps the light soft and ambient. It is rated IP40, so it is for dry indoor rooms only.
The story behind Tooy
Valeria Giacomozzi and Valerio Tidei founded Tooy in 2015 in Italy's Marche region. It began as a spin off from Gibas, the Giacomozzi family lighting company that has made tailor made lighting in Marche since 1959. Corrado Dotti, who designed Filipa, trained with Matteo Thun and then Armani Casa before opening his own studio in 2009, and has been Tooy's creative director since 2017. The brand's lamps are made in Italy.
