The Astina Up/Down does one job and does it with real precision, casting a matching cone of light above and below itself on a wall. In black, the cylinder reads almost like a shadow on the wall until the lamps come on, at which point it becomes the sharpest looking fitting in the room.

Picking Your Finish

Black gives the strongest contrast of the three Astina Up/Down colourways, standing out clearly against pale render or plaster. If you would rather the fixture blended in more, the same shape is also made in White, or in Grey if you want something between the two extremes. Whichever you pick, the light output and dimensions stay the same.

How It Works

Underneath the paint finish sits a cast aluminium body with two GU10 lamp holders, each behind its own glass cover that turns a single point of light into a soft, even cone. It takes GU10 halogen lamps rated up to 10W per socket, or an LED GU10 retrofit for the same effect at lower running cost. Connection is direct to a 220 to 240V mains supply, and the IP20 rating means it is intended for indoor use in dry rooms.

Where It Works Best

Black suits contemporary hallways, exposed brick or dark painted walls, and spaces where you want the fitting itself to register as a design detail rather than melt away. It reads particularly well either side of a fireplace or stairwell, where the two beams add height and rhythm to a wall that would otherwise sit flat.
