A Sharp Edged Path Light With Real Presence
The Searchlight Burnall is a black bollard light with a pointed, faceted top that gives it a distinct silhouette after dark. Standing 73cm tall, it throws a wide pool of light along paths, driveways and borders without needing anything mounted overhead.
Materials and Finish
The body is cast aluminium finished in black, with a glass panel set into the louvred head that diffuses the light source and shields it from the weather.
How It Works
It runs on a single E27 bulb, not included, and is not dimmable. As a Class I fitting it must be earthed, so installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
Where It Works Best
Rated IP44, the Burnall is built for sheltered outdoor spots such as garden paths, driveways and low boundary walls, where a run of two or three spaced a few metres apart gives an even wash of light.
About Searchlight Electric

Questions People Ask
Can the Burnall be mounted on a wall instead of the ground?
No. It is designed as a freestanding post light with a fixed base plate, so it needs to be secured to a level surface such as paving or a concrete footing.
What bulb does it take?
A single E27 bulb, not supplied. An LED equivalent to a 60W E27 halogen keeps running costs low while giving a similar output.
Is it suitable for a driveway edge that gets rained on?
Yes. At IP44 it is built to withstand rain and splashing, though it should stay clear of standing water.
How far apart should multiple posts be spaced?
For an even wash of light along a path, spacing them around 2 to 3 metres apart works well, though this depends on bulb brightness and how much light is wanted.
