The Avaya table lamp pairs a heavily textured ceramic base with a soft linen shade, so it reads more like a piece of studio pottery than a standard lamp. The ribbed surface recalls the texture of tree bark, running from a warm honey shade at the neck down into a deeper charcoal grey at the base, finished with a slim antique brass collar where the two colours meet.

The tapered linen shade sits in a natural beige tone that picks up the warmer notes in the ceramic below it, so the two halves of the lamp feel like they belong together. Lit, the linen gives off a soft, honeyed light rather than a hard glare, which is part of why this lamp works well as an evening light rather than a task light.
