The Gotham wall light takes the same crystal ball and drum shade look as the chandelier and pendant and scales it down to a single arm, the kind of light that works either side of a bed or flanking a mirror without competing for attention.

Brushed Brass and a Cream Shade

Finished in a soft, satin brushed brass, this wall light pairs a curved arm with a single crystal ball feature and a pale cream fabric drum shade. The same fitting comes in Imperial Silver with a black shade for a cooler, more contemporary pairing, so it is worth deciding on the metal tone first if you are matching it to existing brassware or chrome elsewhere in the room.

How It Works

It takes a single G9 LED bulb, rated at 3.5W, which is not supplied. The light is dimmable if a dimmable G9 bulb is fitted. It is wired to Class I, so it needs an earth connection, and as a hardwired wall fitting it should be installed by a qualified electrician.

At 33cm high, 22.9cm wide and projecting 17.8cm from the wall, it is a compact fitting suited to bedside pairs, hallways or either side of a fireplace. Where the Gotham chandelier and pendant carry four lamps for a whole room, this wall light is built for a single, more targeted pool of light, and it is often bought in pairs for exactly that reason.

The Lamp That Outlasted Decades

Quoizel's first products, back in 1930s Manhattan, were oil burning hurricane lamps rather than anything electric. One of those designs, the Abigail Adams lamp, proved popular enough to stay in the catalogue for decades after the company had long since moved into hardwired electric fittings. It is a reminder that the brand's history runs a lot further back than the glass and brass finishes on a piece like Gotham suggest.
