Quintiesse Martine 2 Light Wall Light - Antique White

The Quintiesse Martine 2 Light Wall Light brings the sculptural language of 1930s and 1940s cast plaster lighting into a modern wall fitting. Quintiesse describes the design as drawing on wave like carvings that give the piece real depth and movement, so it reads more like a piece of applied sculpture than a conventional wall light.

The Antique White Finish

This wall light is finished in Antique White, a soft, textured white that echoes the look of aged plasterwork. The body combines a steel frame with polymeric resin, allowing the wave like ridges to be cast with crisp, consistent detail. It sits comfortably against painted walls, panelling or plaster coving, and pairs particularly well with warm white bulbs that pick out the shadows in each carved wave.

How it works

Each fitting takes 2 x 60W E14 bulbs, which are not supplied. The light is dimmable, but only if dimmable bulbs are fitted, so check compatibility with your dimmer switch before buying bulbs. It is rated Class I, which means it needs an earthed electrical supply and should be installed by a qualified electrician. The wall light itself, complete with its wall mounting plate, is everything you need aside from the bulbs and any dimmer control.

Where it works best

At 33cm high and projecting 10cm from the wall, the Martine suits living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms where you want ambient or accent lighting rather than a single central source. Because the design has real sculptural presence, it works well used in pairs either side of a fireplace, mirror or bed, or spaced along a dining room wall as a softer alternative to a central pendant.
