The Lahden Single Chain Lantern is the hanging fitting in the Lahden family, its oversized chain link suspension giving it a carriage inspired presence over a porch, entrance or covered walkway. Cast in a weathered zinc finish and glazed with clear seeded glass, it has the weight and texture of a lantern that has hung outside for years, without any of the actual weathering.

The body is aluminium, finished in a grey, industrial weathered zinc that reads as aged metalwork rather than a bright new casting. Quintiesse pairs it with clear seeded glass, which has a gentle texture and catches light unevenly rather than throwing a flat, uniform glow. Together they give the lantern a slightly antique, handworked look that sits comfortably against brick, render, stone or painted timber.
How it works
The Lahden Chain Lantern takes 1 x E27 LED bulb, not supplied. It hangs from an adjustable chain with a drop that can be set anywhere between 44.7cm and 197.2cm, so you can pull it low over a doorway or let it hang higher across a taller porch ceiling. It will dim, but only if you fit dimmable bulbs. As a Class I fitting it needs an earthed supply and should be installed by a qualified electrician.
Where it works best
The long adjustable drop is the main thing to plan around here. It suits porches and covered entrances with a bit of ceiling height to play with, as well as pergolas and covered walkways where a hanging lantern reads better than a flush or wall mounted one. With an IP44 rating it is built for exterior use in sheltered, covered spots rather than fully exposed positions.
