Quintiesse Chance 2 Light Semi-Flush Fitting - Blackened Brass

The Chance 2 Light Semi Flush Fitting has a distinctive rounded, almost horseshoe shaped frame, a shape long associated with good fortune, and Quintiesse has picked out its edges with a fine row of rivets along the top and bottom of the cast frame. At the centre sits an etched opal glass diffuser, so the fitting reads as a soft glowing lantern rather than a plain ceiling light, making it a striking but understated choice for a hallway, bedroom or dining room ceiling.

Blackened Brass finish

This version is finished in blackened brass, a deep, almost charcoal toned brass that keeps a faint warmth under the surface rather than reading as flat black. The steel frame carries the finish across every rivet and edge, and the etched opal glass panel softens and diffuses the light rather than showing bulbs directly. It sits comfortably against dark woodwork, matt black ironmongery or warmer, more traditional colour schemes where a pure black fitting might feel too stark.

How it works

Two E27 lamp holders sit within the frame (bulbs are not supplied), and the fitting will dim smoothly if dimmable bulbs are fitted, though it will not dim with standard bulbs. It's rated Class I, so it needs to be wired to an earthed supply and should be installed by a qualified electrician. The fitting itself, frame, glass diffuser and fixings, is supplied ready to wire in.

Where it works best

At 25.4cm high and 36.2cm across, this semi flush fitting sits close to the ceiling, which makes it a good option for rooms with lower ceilings where a hanging pendant would feel too low, hallways and landings in particular. Quintiesse lists it as suited to living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways, and its two light output makes it a reasonable stand in for a single central pendant in a modest sized room.
