The Atwater single wall lantern in its large size brings genuine kerb presence to an entrance, echoing the look of a traditional coach lantern while being built for modern exterior use. Its tall, upright profile and warm inner glow catch the eye long before a visitor reaches the door.

The black finish

Finished in a deep, matte black, the Atwater's composite body is treated with an anti fading agent that holds its colour under UV and salt air, making it a sound choice near the coast as well as inland. A softly curved handle and scrollwork accents nod to classic lantern design, and the clear seeded glass panel diffuses light with a gentle, flickering candle like quality after dark. The black finish sits comfortably against brick, render, dark timber doors and painted stone alike.

How it works

Atwater takes a single E27 LED bulb, not supplied, housed behind the seeded glass to keep the light source softened rather than exposed. It's dimmable, but only if you fit a dimmable bulb; a standard bulb won't respond to a dimmer switch. This is a Class I fitting, so it must be wired to an earthed supply and installed by a qualified electrician. Only the lantern itself is included.

Where it works best

At just over half a metre tall, this large Atwater suits generous porches, double fronted doors and wider entrances where a smaller lantern would look lost. It's equally at home either side of a garage or flanking a grand front door for a matching pair. Its IP44 rating means it's built to cope with the splashing and driving rain a covered or semi sheltered exterior wall will see.
