Suri Fixed: The Almost Invisible Downlight

Suri Fixed is designed to disappear into the ceiling rather than sit on top of it. A gentle gradient baffle blends the fitting into plaster, giving the clean, minimal look of a bespoke plaster in light without the installation complexity that usually comes with one.

Choosing your configuration

Suri Fixed offers one of the broadest option sets in the range, so there is genuine scope to tune it to the room.

• Driver: 0 to 10V dimming, Dali, mains dimming or non dimming.
• Engine: Origin for general use, Origin Natural for the highest colour quality, Origin Warm Dim for a warm glow effect across 1800K to 3000K, or Origin loPro where the ceiling void is shallow.
• Lamp temperature: 1800K to 3000K, 2700K, or 3000K, depending on the engine chosen.
• Beam: a wide spread from 18° up to 57°, so this single fitting can do narrow accent work or broad, even wash lighting.
• IP rating: IP54 or IP65.
• Bezel and baffle: white (RAL 9010) bezel with a black baffle.

How It Works

The gentle gradient of the baffle is the key mechanical detail here, it softens the transition between the dark optic and the white ceiling so the eye reads a smooth recess rather than a hard edged fitting. Behind that baffle, an aluminium housing manages heat from the LED, protecting colour consistency and output over the long term. As a fixed fitting, there is no tilting mechanism to align, which keeps the installation simple and the finished look flush and quiet.

Where It Works Best

This is the fitting to specify wherever the brief calls for light with no visible hardware, hallways, living spaces, bedrooms, anywhere a client wants the ceiling to read as plain plaster. Suri Fixed and Suri Adjustable share the same 80mm bezel and 89mm cut out and the same plaster in aesthetic, so the two can be combined in a single scheme, Fixed for the points that need a straight, even beam and Adjustable for the points that need to be aimed. Against the smaller Suri Mini collection, Suri Fixed suits larger rooms and longer runs of ceiling where a slightly bigger bezel is not a concern.

Much of what makes Suri Fixed work comes down to Orluna's approach to materials. Its fittings favour die cast, extruded and machined aluminium for housings and heat sinks, chosen because aluminium efficiently draws heat away from the LED and protects both colour consistency and long term output. Bezels, reflectors, engines and drivers are built to be replaced individually rather than the whole fitting being discarded, which is the thinking behind Orluna's 20 year spares, repair and reuse programme.
