A Lantern With a Weathered Soul
There is something about antique brass that looks like it has already lived a life on the coast. The Navigator Hull Guard Pendant Lantern in Antique Brass wears a soft, deep brown patina from the moment it arrives, so it settles happily against stone, render or aged timber without ever looking too new. Hang it over a porch or a covered doorway and it reads instantly as a fixture that belongs there, not one that was fitted last week.
How It Works
The lantern is built from solid brass with a clear, ribbed glass diffuser that spreads a soft pattern of light rather than a single harsh glow. It carries an IP54 rating, so it copes well with wind blown rain and the general damp of a British porch or entrance. Inside sits a single ES / E27 lamp holder, taking one bulb up to 18W (not supplied), and it will run a dimmable LED lamp cleanly on a compatible dimmer switch. A 500mm chain comes as standard and can be shortened or lengthened on site, taking the overall drop from around 400mm up to a maximum of 830mm, and a ceiling cup is included so it fits straight onto a standard outdoor rose.
Where It Works Best
Antique Brass suits period cottages, Victorian terraces and anywhere the brief calls for heritage rather than modern. It is the finish to choose if you want the character of an aged fitting without waiting years for it to develop naturally. Compared with its Raw Brass sibling, which starts brighter and darkens with age and handling, Antique Brass looks consistent from day one, so every fixture along a terrace of front doors will match. Against Satin Nickel, which reads cool and contemporary, Antique Brass leans warm and traditional, closer in spirit to the ship fittings the Hull Guard design borrows from.

Questions People Ask
Is the Hull Guard Pendant Lantern in Antique Brass safe to use outside?
Yes. It carries an IP54 rating, which covers protection against splashing water from any direction, so it suits a covered porch, canopy or sheltered entrance.
Will the antique brass finish need polishing to keep its look?
No. The antique finish is designed to stay warm and aged looking without regular polishing, unlike raw brass, which continues to develop its own patina over time.
What bulb does this pendant lantern take?
It takes a single ES / E27 lamp up to 18W. No bulb is supplied, so you can choose a warm white LED to suit the space and use a dimmer if you prefer softer light.
