The Rivale Table Lamp in Marbled finish is a compact 13cm tall, 21cm wide handmade ceramic table lamp with the timeless visual quality of hand painted marbled stone. The swirling tones of cream, warm grey and natural stone are applied individually at Mullan Village before firing. No two pieces carry an identical pattern. The lamp faces outward and slightly downward, concentrating the warm G9 glow onto the surface below and into the immediate area. It is a fitting that is as interesting switched off as it is on — an object with genuine decorative presence on any surface it occupies.

How It Works

The G9 lamp sits directly within the ceramic shade, directing warm light onto the surface below and outward into the room. The marbled tones catch in the light, reading differently in natural daylight and warm evening light. A warm white dimmable G9 LED suits the marbled finish well, the layered depth of the ceramic showing most clearly at lower evening light levels.

The Story Behind Mullan

Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who restored a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan. Ceramicist Stephen Kieran developed the marbling technique by drawing on the layered stone and mineral textures of the Irish landscape. Over 100 craftspeople work at the studio and every piece is made to order using sustainable clay and recycled brass. The studio distributes to more than 55 countries.
