Mullan Nakaii Wall Light Blue Earth with Finish Options

Blue Earth and Glass: Natural Colour on Your Wall

The Nakaii Wall Light in Blue Earth brings the layered teal and ocean tones of the blue earth ceramic finish to a wall fitting with a glass shade. At 24cm tall and 20cm wide it has a substantial presence on a wall. The colour is applied by hand at Mullan Village before firing, building up differently across every individual piece so no two shades carry an identical depth or distribution of colour. The glass shade softens and diffuses the G9 bulb's light while the blue earth ceramic body shifts in colour quality through the day, cool and aquatic in natural daylight, richer and warmer in the evening.

How It Works

The glass shade faces outward, diffusing and distributing the G9 bulb's warm light across the wall and into the room. The blue earth ceramic body sits on the wall as a naturally coloured sculptural form, the colour changing as the quality of light around it changes through the day. A warm white dimmable G9 LED is recommended to bring out the richer, deeper tones within the blue earth glaze in the evening.

Where It Works Best

The Blue Earth Nakaii Wall Light suits living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms adjacent to dry zones and hallways where natural colour on a wall is wanted in a fitting of genuine craft quality. The blue earth finish pairs particularly well with natural stone, pale timber, limewash plaster and warm neutral walls. Used as a pair either side of a bed or mirror it creates a calm, considered arrangement that feels genuinely handmade.

The Story Behind Mullan

Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who restored a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan. Ceramicist Stephen Kieran developed the blue earth finish as a translation of the blues and greens of the Irish landscape into a hand painted ceramic glaze. Over 100 craftspeople work at the studio and every piece is made to order using sustainable clay and recycled brass.

FAQs

What bulb does the Nakaii Wall Light take?
It takes a G9 bulb, maximum 6.5W. Bulb not included. A warm white LED G9 is recommended. The warmer the colour temperature, the richer the blue earth tones appear in the evening.

Will the colour look exactly like the photos?
The blue earth finish is hand applied in layers, so the exact depth and distribution of colour varies naturally between pieces.

Is this suitable for a bathroom?
The Nakaii Wall Light is IP20 rated and suitable for dry indoor areas only. It is not certified for bathroom wet zones. Please contact us if you need a bathroom rated fitting and we will advise.

Can I use a dimmable bulb?
Yes. Compatible with dimmable G9 LED bulbs. Ensure your dimmer switch is rated for LED use. Bulb not included.

Can I return it?
No. Every Mullan light is made to order, so it cannot be returned unless it arrives faulty or damaged. If anything is wrong when it arrives, please contact us as soon as possible.
